    Default Snowy Owl

In agricultural grasslands, it's a challenge photographing wintering snowy owls on natural perches. After watching this young owl on a barn roof and metal utility pole, it finally settled down at the base of this large tree by a pond. Canon 300mm f2.8 x 2, no flash, tripod, F8, ISO 400, sidelighting

Cool bird and find. I like the setting, pose and BG. I'm undecided on the crop. I like it as is but could see it as vertical or the bird a tad further to the left in the frame. It would have been even better with the sun behind you. Anyway, I'm envious, I still have to find this species. :)

Jeff, Using your time well! Is that the Snowy seen in the Ft. Edward area? 3 now at Plum Is., 1 at the Portland Maine Airport to add to the 4 others Maine sightings and several in northern Vermont.
I would try a vertical crop close to the right edge of the Owl. Great capture! Bob
