    Default Yellow Spoonbill

This bird was photographed with a Canon 30D with 300F4 IS with 1.4 Converter (420mm) at 1/250 sec, F6.3, ISO 200 backed off contrast and sharpened in CS3 no NS but cloned out green shadows in the background to give the BG an all black finish (original was 80% black). Average metering and apeture priority.

I would have liked to have the beak facing me and I did get the image later but I did not like the background in that image.

    Hi Chris

The bird really stands out against the black background. I always find the when photographing against a really dark background that whites can be tricky to expose for and this one looks a little hot on the shoulder region. I also think the image could be sharpened up at little more. There also quite a bit of dead space above the bird and a less square crop may have provided a strong composition.

    Cheers

Though conditions Christopher Would try making a new layer and multiplying I'm sure you can get more detail in the withe areas Remove the dead space as suggested and will look good !!!!
