Default SQUAWK softly & carry a BIG STICK

Hello folks. First post here and wantto thank Fabs for the invite. Glad to see familiar faces and look forward to viewing new work.

Thought I'd start off with a pic of one of my local Venice (FL) area ospreys. Took this the other morning. The locals (osprey) are very active getting their nests in order for the upcoming young. Some early signs of breeding activity going on. Making for great photo ops.

    Thanks for looking.

    Big welcome, Mike!

That is a nice pair of wings! I would measure the distance on both sides from wingtip to border and make it identical, the symmetry of them makes the shot, and the diagonal twig balances the comp.

    A keeper :)

Pose and stick are great. I would also try a different composition.

I reposted the "original" with watermark added only...no rework of anything else (yet). For some reason my Pbase gallery didn't upload the copyrighted image ?? Image is almost too symetrical...and not much exciting to do with comp. Perhaps a vertical would change viewpont a bit....

I sitll like it as a near-square--perhaps a bit more off of the bottom.

Cool shot, Mike! I like the centered comp and the dramtatic wing flare. The big stick adds much to the image. Exposure is right on.

I like the head down position and the wing position as well. I am a fan of square crops, so this near square crop works for me.
