Your subject placed itslef nicely on the perch! The way the perch curves to the right, and the grosbeak looking to the left it kinda cancels out the "rule" of having more space in front of the subject and you could get away with a more central composition (but keep all the space above). As presented the image seems to have lost some detail, but I'm sure the full size version looks great :-)

I agree !! Regardless of the details (which a real painting doesn't have much), it just looks great as is! Love the lighting and the background !
