    Hi Bruce,
I like the capture and composition. The bird is placed just right in frame...the details in the feathers look to be slightly over sharpened. Recommend in toning down the whites; they are over cooked. and it would have been a stronger image if the sun angle were from your back , not from the side, evidence of this is the bird's shadow...also i would desaturate the background just a tad...

HI Bruce with soft light you can get over exposure in some channels due to over saturation, might lower the reds.

Love the pose and bg Sure wish he was standing on something different but would include a little more of the ground, tight at the feet. Image seems a little soft and not sure the reason. Would increase the ISO for safety, your camera is a great performer and for these I can't see going bellow 400? Excellent image I like it a lot !!!

Thanks all for the comments. This is one of those times when I just took what the opportunity gave me. The light wasn't behind me, and the blacktop isn't the prettiest, but..... Yes, Harod. We had a blast on in HI. My wife is invlolved with Sweet Adlines and her chorus competed in the international competion in Honolulu. We spent a hectic week on Ohahu, then a very different week on Kauai..

    Cheers,

    Bruce

If the intention is to show a shiny plover, I think the image conveys that impression. The thing is how to do it without going overboard. I second Al's comment about the ground.
