This image was taken a week ago, 8:15AM. Looks like I'm hung up on these beautiful, white creatures for now. Once again I'm playing with the Adjustment Brush in Lightroom -- the feet, the beak, and the eye are brightened; some of the shadowy background is lightened. Nothing is done to the white parts of the bird. The crop is a minor one, with some sharpening. Please let me know how I'm doing.
I like your Egret. Looks like it's maneuvering for it's prey!! Nicely exposed and very sharp. I wish there was a little more room in front for him to "land" :D
Hi Wendell,
I like your composition, but its a bit tight on the bottom for the feet also the bird is too centered in frame. I made a few changes...see if it presents better to you. I added canvas on the bottom and to the right and cropped from the left also lightened the blacks in the background and increased saturation and contrast , while toning down the whites just a hair...
Wendell for these birds in action do give yourself some room in frame since they can extend the wings and are easy to clip !!! The faster the bird is moving the more space you need to give them !!!
One other point which could be helpful. If the actions continues and the light gets harsher, you can go to blurs. Just slow the shutter speed and experiment. Blurs seem to do lots better in harsh light, all you need is a neutral density filter for the low speed with a reasonable f stop !!!
Hi Lance:
Oh, me and Noise . . . I've had other comments about noise in my posts and would like to solve that in the future, at least to some degree. I have trouble "seeing it", recognizing it and/or correcting it. Would you please tell me the exact steps you would use to "smooth it out". I would appreciate that info. Actually, I've done some reading on the subject but still come up short. I am entirely self-taught, so I rely heavily on criticism and direction I get in forums. Thanks in advance, Lance.
Wendell nice action capture. If you want to see noise zoom in to your pic at at least 100 percent, and then run it through a noise reduction feature. Not sure if Lightroom has one or not. Click on the preview button to see the befor and after in the BG. also there is a good thread under either general photography or digital workflow. Have a look-see, then I think you'll recognize noise!
