Captured this red shoulder hawk at Corkscrew Sanctuary this past Monday. Light was a bit harsh and he was quite a distance from were we were.

    Nikon D300, 300mm 2.8 w/1.44tc, Focal length 420mm, F 5.6, 1/800, ISO 400, Manual Exposure,
    Tripod used.

Oscar, I love hawks .We see more around here every Nov. I think the only thing wrong here is you needed to be closer- His wing position is great so is his HA. Your BG is a real nice color of blue-I think you did good here. I would be happy if I shot it!

    Great capture Mr. O,
I agree with Lady Denise on the bird being small in frame. what you can do to remedy this is to crop about 1/4 from the right side of the frame to eliminate some of the negative space. I like the details in the wings...and the baby blue Nikon sky rocks big time...good show...:)

You gave the best critique Oscar Harsh light and far away !!! Tough to come up with something solid !!!

I like the take off and you did come up with a good exposure As presented we like wings fully extended but this looks appealing !!! btw I was at the swamp today and nothing going on !!! Stayed most of the time at the bunting place but did walk all around once .... two male and one female anhinga ... that was it !!!

Hi Oscar - agree with your own self critique - sometimes you just have to push the button and try to get something from it.
    looking forward to more. :)

Got the details under the wings Oscar, just needs a little sharpness. So hard to get everything together in one pic!
Like your crop with the bird bigger in frame:)
