    Hello Everyone,
Hope you all have a great weekend. Here is a shot of a merlin taken at the local swamp, Buttertubs Marsh here in Nanaimo B.C.. I took this when I was first getting used to my new Canon 500mm back last year. Just stumbled onto it while cleaning up the hard drive. Sorry I can't give an accurate setup on this but as a guess I would say it was taken at about 1/1000 at around F/8. Taken with my old Canon 20D.

    Thanks for looking,

    Steve Large

    Hi Steve

Good looking bird with a clean bg !! Harsh light got you and the steep angle did not help matters !!! Sometimes you can fill flash with good results depending on your shutter speed/distance. As presented can select the eye an lighten.

Agree on the above comments and will add that if this was mine, I'd try to get the stick from popping from the corner (bottom left) because it emphasizes the rectangular shape of the frame.

Thanks for sharing this one :)

Just to add that if you do go ahead with this good suggestion make sure you lighten the iris only...you will want to keep the pupil dark :)
