This image looks kind of flat and soft to me. I wonder if the slow shutter speed may have hurted it, too. The background is clean though. As for the pose, I've found a frontal shot for this small bird hard to make it looks good, but probably just personal taste.
Nice and sharp where it counts most (eyes and bill) but I agree that the image looks flat. Looking at levels you have no solid blacks and no significant whites (drop lower right only)- an adjustment to get a black and a white makes a difference - Artie's Digital Basics file is money well spent for this initial image editing info. Also cloned out the drop on the right as the bright highlight was catching the eye more than it deserved to :D

Thanks for the comment about the eyes and bill. I thought those were in good focus too. I thought that the water droplet added but now seeing it gone, you are definitely right. I will look at my original image to see how to put your suggestions to use. Do you know how much Artie's file is?
