    Hi Tom,

    He looks good in the backlighting. You got him a a good position, alert and looking at you. For this image I would have liked to see more room on the right and bottom for the virtual legs. The tangled brush in the FG is a bit distracting especially the one sticking up by the stomach. The high-contast of the BG also draws the eye as it is a humans natural tendency to notice the brighter parts of the image.

    Tom,
    You have captured the mood. I would have preferred the scene without a 1.4x. That would have given you space at the back of the deer and at the bottom. You could have used f4 to throw the background out of focus. I can see numerous stars in the background. Did you have the lens hood in place?

    You have made some interesting points which I will bear in mind for a similar situation. I was using the lens hood.
