Hello all. My first post here, been trying to get up the nerve and the skill! I shot this lovely bird through some brush, so my cropping options were cramped a bit. I left the headroom to show how his camouflage blends so well with the background. Comments welcome, of course!

    Canon 50D ISO 800 1/1250 sec f/7.1
    EF70-200mm f/2.8L + 1.4x TE
Converted from 15MP RAW in DPP then PS work

Hi Kerry Big Warm welcome !!!

Got lots of good things going here ... correct exposure showing good highlight detail, sharp, moved in close to fill frame and good tech settings.

The oof area on the left corner I would crop out since it detracts and you want to have the bird larger in frame. Would have gotten higher if possible, to keep the head form merging with water's edge and a slight head turn would have been helpful.

After you make the initial image work the bird and move around for a better angle if possible. Looking forward to many more .... and btw don't hesitate to comment on others seems it helps as much as getting comments on your own images !!!
