This image is from Yosemite last month. It was raining and it was late in the afternoon so darkness was approaching. I couldn't help trying to get a decent image of this guy despite the disappearing light.

40D with 100-400 at 350. Evaluative metering at ISO 1000 - YES, ISO 1000!!! f5.6 and 1/125. Full frame. Noise Ninja on the entire image with selective sharpening on the buck only.

Thanks for looking. All comments are most welcome

Excellent for the high ISO Ed !!!

Excellent pose and direct look I like how you kept the antlers from merging with the tree line, would have left more room a the bottom for the virtual legs !!! I like it a lot !!

    Ed,

Good composition of this nice looking buck. The rack looks tack sharp but the face is a bit soft. I would give the face a bit more sharpening to even it out with the rack and body sharpness. A bit more room on the bottom for the legs would be good.

    Ed,
Agree with the above comments. Would have loved some more sharpness in the face. I like the background colours and composition. It seems the light was quiet low. Without using the high ISO you would not have got an image. Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers,

Not much hardware in the rack but a very nice size to them and a healthy looking buck. I like the habitat, especially the two different green strips.
