Another from Florida's Little Estero Lagoon. I like the goofy head position of this bird.

You are right about the head pose, really cool :) You also got his colors really well.
Wish for a different wing position and there's some distractions in the water over his wing on our left.

    Beautifully captured!

Very cool there, Milo. It's expression is priceless. Possibly a bit more room would give it somewhere to sail to.

I really like this posture, and have only been able to get it a few times. The 3/4 approach angle, the pancake look with a head sprouting out the top like that is quite unusual and appealing. The eye looks razor sharp! I think it could use room on the left but that is a matter of taste.

    Hi Milo,
We met in Cordova at the birding festival in 2006. I enjoyed talking to you and thanks again for the advise on photo ops at the time.

Although the wings are near level this gives a cartoon like effect to this bird with the erect head position. A great concept photo and very sharp.

    Hi Milo!

I agree with you on the head pose....it is great...and the eye is pin sharp. I usually don't care for flat flight poses, but it really works well in this image because of the head position.
