Winter is fast approaching - there is snow on the ground and our lake is frozen, so I thought it was time to post this image of a red squirrel in a snow storm. 40D, 500 f/4, 1/250, f/8, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

I recognize the squirrel ,but what is that white stuff ?
Nice off center position helping to emphasize blowing, falling snow direction toward squirrel. I doubly enjoy it since I will never see it.
Please post more snow and cold pics.
What would I do different ? not much because vertical would kill the blowing snow effect. Great exposure on subject and snow. OOF blobs give a real life appearance to the photo -I would guess trees or shrubs.

Love this image! Like the snow falling around the squirrel and the comp. Also like the way the red of the suirrel really pops out from the grey background.

    Steve,
I love this one. The snow fall gives a nice feel to the image. The horizontal composition works well.

I agree as well. You did a beautiful job of composing and exposing the image and everything about it works. Seeing as the weather channel is calling for snow in my area this weekend I'll probably be right behind you with a few squirrel in snow images as well.

    Well, phooey.

    Wasn't it just spring???
