    Default Motif: Water - "Eruption"

    Motif: Water - " Eruption"

Acknowledgements: This one is for you Mr. Forns; I hope it’s to your fancy…

Techs: This composition is an image overlay of two frames captured in RAW and then converted to JEPG. Format; shot at four frames per second using a polarizing filter, at 50 percent capacity. The drops were created in an old fish aquarium filled half way with a suspension media of water, corn syrup, glycerin, and food coloring. Three 00 buckshot were released from the top at a distance of three feet, to create the volcano eruption effect.

The image was painted with a Nikon D200, using a Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D macro lens with a 20mm extension tube.

    Image solution:
Focal length @ 60mm / exposure mode @ aperture priority / 1/1250sec. - f/18 / ISO @ 320white balance @ cloudy / AF - mode @ auto - high speed continuous / metering mode @ in camera matrix metering / lighting solution - no speedlight - used combination of 36" soft box placed from the top at 180 degree angle; two 300 watt strobes powered down to 3/4 lumen burst with diffuser panels placed in front at 45 degree angles, in conjunction with two 22" silver disk reflectors angled from both sides. / Exposure comp @ -2.7EV / tone comp @ +3 degrees / hue adjustment @ +3 degrees / saturation factor @ +5 degrees / support platform - tripod assist; with macro focusing rail; and cable trigger release /

    Hey Doctor,
These are done looking through the glass...:) I'm glad you like it. Set up time is about two hours; and by the time the final take is complete, it runs about four hours to get it right...

This is very special Gus. Six hours well spent although I've read the description of your set-up several times and still can't picture it.

    Cheers.

BTW Gus, just wanted to mention what an incredible amount of set-up to capture this shot after reading your next post in this thread. It is so beautiful. I think we will call you the MM (macro-maestro).
