I was importing my old files to lightroom and found this one. This was shot in 2005 with a 10D.
The young tiger cub was trying to chase deers. Unlike Cheetahs, the tiger would use stealth to approach close enough to its prey before launching the ligthening charge which lasts for only a short duration. Young tiger cubs learn these skills by watching their mother hunt. In this case, the mother was watching its two young cubs run all over the place chasing deers. The mother knew it was a valuable lesson for its cubs and patiently watched the proceedings. The light was low and and I had half an hour of driving to reach the forest gates before it closes. I left a couple of minutes later as the cubs gave up their chase.
Shot with a Canon 10D, 300mm f4 L IS lens + 1.4 TC. In those days I never used a ISO higher than 100. So shot at ISO 100, f5.6 at 1/20 seconds.
I have cropped from the left and bottom, about 20%. Look forward to your comments.
Cheers,
Sabyasachi
