Female, I believe. Image made this morning at one of the lakes along New Jersey's North Shore. There were many Ruddys around but this one just kept diving and coming up right in front of me. No cropping here. :)

Conditions sunny with bright blue sky and a light wind.

    Canon 50D; 300mm f/2.8L IS lens w/ 2x TC; tripod-mounted.

    1/200 sec @ F/10; ISO 400; +2/3 EV; Sunny WB; FL 600mm (Effective FL 960mm)

Great find, pose and details. I see a slight magenta cast on my monitor, would tone down the highlights and clone out the specular highlights above the eye and on the bill. Any luck with the snow buntings?

I agree with Axel.s comments on the slight magenta cast. Nice pose with good eye contact. Many thanks for sharing Ed.

A female it is. Axel pretty much covered every thing. They are very fast swimmers, so you did good getting it to pose for you :)

Thanks for the critiques. I have a question regarding the magenta cast. Where are you seeing this? What are you looking at? And what am I doing to cause it? I have gotten this comment from you folks before. And I saw it in one or two images. But to be honest, I don't see it here. I pulled this image up and showed to a couple of the designers/artists at work and neither of them could see a magenta cast. So I would appreciate a little help here. Thanks.
