    Default Wimberley 1 or 2

For the 500mm F4, is the lighter weight Wimberley 2 preferred for stability over the 1, assuming I could even find a used #1?

Jeff I like the new one better since its lighter. There is one aspect of the old one which is better, the tension for panning. On the new its either loose or tight, difficult to have the right tension.

Another vote for the new one. I typically hand hold, so panning isn't an issue for me.

I just had my panning adjustment replaced and it now works like a charm on my II....I would agree with Alfred's observations that prior to this, it was either too tight or too loose.
