    Hi Mike,
I like the capture, you have a nice clean background, but the bird is too centered in frame. I modified your composition by cropping from the right and 1/4 from the top and added canvas to the left to off center the bird. I increased contrast and saturation and sharpened the eye...

    Hi Folks:

Not trying to Showboat, only want to show you CS4's new Content Aware Scale to add canvas feature as explained by Keith http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...618#post172618

Took me about 5 min to add canvas

Mike great job on this .Gus' repost tops it off!

Uncle Gus- I was trying that out yesterday. When you stretched it did anythind change on bird or did you have to specify not to touch bird?

    Hi denise:

First added 100 px to left side only, using arrow direction set up. Then did the Content Aware Scale by simply dragging left center handle to cover added canvas. Some situations require protecting the bird as explained in Keith's great tutorial

"uptospeed" by Ben Willmore as mentioned by Fab Forms that focuses on CS4 new features is the best $17.00 I ever spent on a DIY book . . . .

Thanks to both Keith & Fabs.

    Regards

    Uncle Gus

Mike your bird photos are really coming along! Your center positioning is the only detraction in this one - the feathers are all well defined and you got a great natural BG that isn't distracting. Good job!

Mike you are really doing well so much easier to get a good BG then to replace one. Keep them coming.

a great big thanks to all, especially uncle Gus. i've been thinking about CS4 but haven't had the money. instead i invested in microsoft's answer to my photo cataloging nightmare.
my thanks again to uncle Gus for the lesson in CS4 and to uncle Gus Cobos too.

Hi Mike you have really stepped it up a few notches !!!!

That is one way to get a bg !! Just moving the little guy back in frame and contrast tweaks !!
