This image was created yesterday at Point Lookout Beach in Western Long Island. So many peeps were running around eating tiny clams that it was hard to isolate just one. This little one took a brief rest and allowed me this image.
Thanks for looking and for your comments.
1/1000, f8, ISO400
1DM2n, 500 + 1.4tc, tripod, legs extended for a low angle. Incident metered.
Converted in BB, minimal PS work (slight crop, levels, curves, burned a few distracting beach elements, sharpened)
Good exposure control. Sharp detail and the bird is well placed in the frame. The seaweed adds a lot of interest. Here in Florida, they are almost always on plain sand.
Sharp and a great exposure but you needed to get right down on the ground so that the bird would have been totally against the water... The merge of the breast with the dark grasses does not help the image.
later and love, artie

You've got to agree with the experts but I believe the bird is beautifully exposed and detail is excellent. I like the OOF blue BG, too. Shore birds are quite special.
These are one of my favourite shorebirds to photograph and I am fortunate o have plenty locally in the winter. Good exposure, detail and setting on this one but it would nice to have had the seaweed a little lighter. Look foward to seeing some more.
