Captured this bighorn near Dumont, Colorado this morning. The horns look like this guy has been through a few battles! Thanks for looking.

I've always wanted to see one of these sheep upclose but never had the joy yet. Keeping that in mind, I'm wondering if their coat is really that light in color as it seems the entire image is a bit light. I also think it could benefit from a closer crop because you've cut him off at the upper thigh and the "rule" is to either get the head and chest or crop at a joint. So, with all due respect, I offer a different version of your sheep for you to ponder.

You did an excellent job of getting a good head angle and great eye contact. I especially love the battle scars on the horns.

Thanks for the crop suggestions! I kind of like the tighter crop from the bottom. I included more of a vertical crop.

    Dan,

Definitely the recrop version. The grass is a nice touch as is his look.

Head is the most compelling part so make it more prominent !!! Excellent Dan !!!

    Dan,
I was about to suggest a crop when I saw the other posts. The original post had the limbs cut off as Julie mentioned and it also had the shadow to contend with. The shadow was distracting the attention from the head. The horn tells a lot about the character of the subject.

What majestic animals... I love the re-post. It was looking light to me as well and for me anyway you NAILED the image with the repost. He does look like he's been in some scrapes the way the tips are broomed a bit.... and look at the size of that neck!

    Just gorgeous!

    Hi Dan,
Repost is on the money. Very nice portrait of the state animal.

Dan, the reposted crop is very nice and the broomed, and scarred horns just scream character.
