This is from early morning at Ding Darling last March---lower angle would have been nice, but not possible. I'm thinking It looks a little soft here but it doesn't at full res. C&C encouraged and very much appreciated.
    THANKS for looking.

    Hi Katie,

I know at Ding you can't always get low but that's OK. Composition is good but would have like to see a bit more room at the bottom so the feet are so cramped - but you did not clip any toes so thats great.

After making a nice image like this, stay with the bird and wait (hope) to get the head more turned towards you.It is preferred to have the head turned in 2 to 3 degrees towards the photographer. This gets the bill and eye in focus. Critical focus should be on the eye.

Please try this link http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ead.php?t=5598 and go about 1/2 way down in Artie's first post to "Free Excerpt: Creating an Action for your BPN J-PEGS". This will explain how to sharpen the image for a small JPG for posting.

    Hi Lady Katie,
I like the composition...next time if possible, you need to catch these guys at a low angle if possible. I modified your image slightly by adding canvas to the bottom, to give the feet some breathing space...:D..also I increased saturation by 12%, boosted contrast by 25% and selective sharpened the bird especially around the face and eye area. see if this presents well to you...

HI Kattie you also got some funky colors and compression artifacts Not much you can do about the rock behind the bird except waiting for it to move.

I like the pose and fully agree with the idea of waiting for him to do anything ...... be on the lookout they can sit there motionless for hours :)

Like Gus's repost here Katie with more room for the feet. Nice colours, wing area looks sharper to me than the face area!

Nice capture Katie. I like Gus's re post, by adding canvas to the bottom makes the image more natural.
