    Hi all,
it was a hot day in Shark Bay- this wild pelican was having a drink by catching water from a lawn sprinkler.
Canon Eos 5D, 1/500 sec, ISO 125, 400mm, no crop.
    Cheers,
    D

I love the open beak. I sure wish that you had more room on the right.....as is seems a bit awkward. A little more DOF might also have been helpful to get just a bit more in focus.

What a riot !!! Love that open mouth and behavior !!! Would like more room at right but do like the idea of going tight !!!

Lovely illustration of just what an amazing thing a pelican bill is. Well coloured up too. Pushing up your ISO would let you close down the aperture while retaining shutter speed and thus increase DOF.

    thanks for the feedback-
i sat there taking photos for about 10 minutes and got a couple with more room, but none of those pics really showed the inside of the bill like this one. the DOF is a good point- they have such absurdly long bills...
    thanks again.
