Fresh from today! I took this one in Buenos Aires Natural Preserve "Costanera Sur", it is very rare to see chicks this age in this preserve as people often take them to have them as pets :(, actually this is the very first time I see such a grown up chick in thois place :), let's hope for the best! Hope you like it, light was not magical but was still good IMO and I really liked the BG!! Enjoy!

Great find, details and very cute bird. I'm wondering if a slightly higher angle would have helped to see more of the legs and I find the BG in the upper left a bit distracting.

Hi Axel, thanks for you comment, I too find the ULC in the BG a bit distracting but not as much distracting as to be cloned out, that's why I left it :) About the angle, a higher angle would've gave me a totally different BG, not as nice, IMO, as this one! Thanks again!

This little guy is so cute...love that baby plumage! I like the intimacy of the low perspective, but do wish the feet were visible. I agree with Axel that the upper left bg is distracting....an easy fix. The light looks fine to me and the head angle is great. Lovely capture.

Hi Linda! Thank you for your thoughts! No matter the angle, the feet were not visible as they were hidden in the short grass :(, plus the BG would've changed dramatically, for bad, with a higer angle. Again, thank you, and I think I'll have to fix that ULC :D

If I'm allowed to make a comment Ramón not seeing the feet bother me as well. I think the feather detail is super as is the eye contact. The upper left corner is a little distracting being that is is so dark, but still enjoy looking at this very pretty bird.

Adorable, Ramon. Since you an I are almost always in the same wave length, i don't need the feet ;)
I much rather have the soft diffused foreground, than feet that I know what they look like :)

    Awesome!!!

Beautiful re-post softer and more subdued without that dark spot, and I'm very sorry to have said anything negative about your work Ramón I think it's some of the best that there is.

I agree with Fabs re: the feet. This is a very nice pic; I've never seen this species at this age before. They are much more elegant as adults, but this is very cute :) You handled the light well. Nice work Ramon!

    Great job,
for my taste, I prefer not to see the feet in this type of pictures. The OOF foreground brings a softer touch to the image, which fits well with a juvenile bird.

I'm a big fan of OOF foreground in images, so the hidden feet don't bother me either. I did feel that my eye was drawn a bit too much to the upper-left background...your rework is much better. Beautiful bird and I'm glad that you spotted a Southern Lapwing of this age...wishing him the best! Great job!

I think the light looks fine in this, as the eye shows up wonderfully. This is also nice and sharp, and love the DOF shown at the bottom of the image. Well captured Ramon.
