    Hi All
Another shot of the same lion. I framed it for a print series, so added the seeds to give the image some depth.

Hi Chari Interesting framing and accessories I think for posting they detract from the image I've never been much into frames for posting, prefer doing a simple drop shadow if at all.

Might want to include the tech info, helps in understanding what you were doing. As presented would like to work on the eyes to make them more prominent. Crop wise I like the face part so would like seeing a different type framing with less body included and more room up front.

    Hi Charl,

I'd like to suggest you that next time you post an unframed photograph....as these accessories are so dominant that it get's more difficult to comment on the overall composition.

I like the pose, the gaze in his eye and the tongue really is what makes this image.

Alfred nailed what I was thinking in regards to cropping and working on the eyes. I might wish for just a tad more room up top. I also wonder how it would look if you brightened up just the lion itself a hair.

I agree with Jasper also. The two lion images you have posted are both captivating in their own right. Maybe the frames would be better received on a site where the emphasis is not so much on composition and technicals as it is here on BPN. Your posted work so far stands on it's own as it should. By choosing a shallow DOF you have already created depth.

Looking forward to more from you.

    Charl,

I agree with the others comments.

I downloaded you image and made a crop for the head and did the following.

Levels - right slider moved to open up highlights - middle slider moved to lighten up image.
Curves - s-curve to add contrast.
Selection on left eye - curves adjustment to lighten eye.
Selection on right eye - curves adjustment to lighten eye.
Eyes mus be done separately since they are light differently.

    Charl,
Agree with the comments regarding suitability of framing according to audience. Personally I believe that the framing distracts from the nice photographs. Nice repost by Robert. I like the looks, shallow dof and the tongue. I like the background as well. Look forward to more posts.

Hi Chari, Lovely photos! I actually liked the adornments of the first lion post - though I understood the comments about distraction.

Seeing how people "finish" photos gives me ideas - I wouldn't have thought of this kind of thing - so for me, it's interesting to see. HOWEVER, on this particular post, the added items might be a bit much. What I see right away is that the sharpness, contrast and saturation of the added items makes the actual subject (which is softer, more monotone, etc) look washed out in comparison.

Now I see the point others have made that these additions make it difficult to critique the composition of the main photo - because now I'm considering the composition of the additional features.....

But I'd still love to keep seeing the creative things you come up with for post-processing. There's also a forum for that which has some very interesting techniques posted, so please keep sharing them.
