    Default Lesser Scaup - again!

Sorry for posting this drab-ish and not-so-exotic-looking female Lesser Scaup yet again, but for us up here the opportunities to get so close to them are usually next to none...it was pretty exciting to add keepers of this species to my files.:) P.S. I will most likely add a round of noise reduction to the BG to the re-finished image (noise looks worse on my work LCD than on my home CRT)

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, eval metering, 1/250s., f/6.3, ISO 640, +1.3 EC, natural light, handheld, cropped for composition (~85% full-frame).

Great details Dan. Love the eye contact and the "bow wave"

Pin sharp Daniel, and that eye is so clear, it looks like a marble. Very well captured.

Well done Daniel. I find that my archives are in dire need of more female photos like this, and it's certainly not drab looking in my book!

Lovely details in the feathers, bow wave and eye, Dan. Agree on NR on the BG. Might take a bit off top and right to decenter the head.

I like the soft light and intimate mood but the 'bow wave' makes this one for me.

Nice portrait and she doesn't look at all drab to me. Soft light and sharp detail. Love the wave in front. Noise reduction you mentioned will improve this lovely image.
