The light levels this day where very low, grey and dark, so it was hard to photograph anything interesting actually. But I didn't stay at home, because there is always much research to do, I enjoy walking in the nature and you hope for some chances to arrive anyway. And it did this time. I found this Great White Heron standing in a small lake. I could make it interesting to photograph it through some last autumn leaves in those warm colors which made a nice camouflage spot aswell!

I like the idea, wide crop and painterly feel and would give it a tad more room at the top.

I like the thing you tried here Andrew....but it is just a bit too tight at the top for me too.

I agree with what others have said about the placement of the bird. I think you captured a very interesting image and it's out of the norm.
I love the painterly look of the water which resembles a large canvas. Good eye!!

Excellent. Try it with a horizontal flip. I think it will be more appealing to the viewers eye.

I agree with the previous comments regarding the need for more rrom at the top of the frame. I like your original idea a lot. Very good eye ;-)

Thanks all! The composition was a hard one, the upper frame was too busy for my taste and would brake down the painterly feel effect, thatś why I chose an extreme composition.
