    Default Hooded Merganser

    Model = Canon EOS-1D Mark II N
    Exposure Time = 1/1600"
    F Number = F8
    Exposure Program = Manual
    ISO Speed Ratings = 400
    Metering Mode = Spot
Flash = Flash fired, compulsory flash mode
    Focal Length = 400mm
    Color Space = sRGB
    Exposure Mode = Manual exposure
    Bushhawk
    Lying in the muck

This Hooded Merganser drake thinks he is a Mallard. He keeps company with a small flock of Mallards. Not only does he think he is a Mallard, but he thinks he is a Mallard hen! I don't know what his parents did to him! :D

I really wanted an image of him displaying. It was tough sometimes to get him isolated away from the Mallards.

Lovely pose and nice light. The shadow below the eye and the dark lines in the BG are a bit distracting though.

To my eye the lighting on the bird itself is fantastic. I like the pose a lot. I too find the dark horizontal line in the BG distracting. Can you select the bird and reduce/eliminate the line?

Lovely light, pose and eye detail. The BG doesn't bother me.

Cool pose, angle, details and eye contact. I only wish for a better sun angle. I'm glad to see you post again!

Excellent IMO, the pose and detail are stunnig! I like the light a lot but agree about the dark horizontal line in the BG and the shadow below the eye a bit distracting, but as presented it looks terrific! Big congratulaitons!

Lovely pose, and super sharp Jody. I like the yellow eye against the dark plumage. Well timed for the pose.

You are the man! I always like seeing your fine work, Jody!
Superior pose and I'm okay with the light angle as you have a sweet beam coming across his eyes and his entire chest is lit up! Two thumbs up!!
