    Al this one is showing the dogs making the bend in the track with all the dirt flying. Rod

    Cool and well done. You got some even better ones on the site. I was actually thinking about approaching the somewhat local track and asking permission to shoot some frames.

    If given unfettered access would a 500mm prime be too long ? Otherwise I would have to take my 100-400 zoom which is a little slow both in focus speed and aperture.

    I use the 200-400 f4 nikon when I shot. The 500 will work ok if you can back far enough. The further away you are the better as it slows down the dogs. At 40 mph next to the rail is nearly impossible to capture. Also don't do anything that will influence a race, like use a flash and be carful when you veiw yous pics not to point the camera at anyone there, as they my think your photographing them.You don't want some one that just lost 100 bulks wanting to know why you were taking his picture. Point the camea down to do the chimping. Good Luck
