On a recent trip to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in South Africa we came upon this young solitary male lion. He had caught a gemsbuck and we spent a couple of hours with him. This was on a road leading from one of the wilderness camps and we were probably the only vehicle on that road for the rest of the day. a Wonderful experience.

I added a couple of elements to the image frame.

    Welcome Charl,

Nice first pose. I like the look of the lion and how he matches the background. The soft sidelighting is very nice as well...but postprocessing-wise this image could use slighly more sharpness. Also I'd like to see a bit more space at the bottom for the virtual legs....a nice photograph....but I'm not so fond of the frame....I guess it works very well in print...but on an online forum for image critique I find it very distracting.

Thank you all for your kind comments.
Jasper, I agree with your view on the framing. It was done for some prints that I did.

    Charl,

Great looking image. Agree with Jasper on the frame though it would be cool for a print.

Charl. You are showing some really great images. But can I make a suggestion? Get rid of those frames and additions. Nothing wrong with your skills, but show the image and not the framing.

Outstanding image... I love the alert look, the light and the grass. Have to agree with the above on the frame elements although I bet they do look cool hanging on your wall... They would look cool hanging on mine!

I think you've captured a very fine image of this handsome young lion. The tall dry grass makes for a lovely complementary BG.
