This morning I found the first Scaup I had seen in our area this season. (I think it is a Lesser Scaup.) It swam by pretty close to me and made my day -- I had been trying for pelicans and grebes with no success. This picture is not cropped; I made some minor adjustments in Lightroom (exposure, fill light, sharpen). C&C, please.

Hi Wendell Good find Sure like them guys !!

Exposure wise would have gone a third under, whites have little detail Should be able to pull some from the RAW file. Can also work on the eye This ducks have a peculiar eye and always look strange. Can zoom in and darken the pupil Will make a difference.

I like the direct look and head angle. Reflection looks good, would only crop some from the top !! Excellent image !!

    Hi Wendell,
I like the composition and capture...agree with Mr. Forns...My suggestion is to tone down the whites and perhaps for the next capture; get a lower capture angle if possible...good show...looking forward to your next one...

    Wendell,
Agree with Al about going a little under for the exposure and if possible a lower angle. Was wondering if you may have a few dust spots on your sensor. I have cleaned my own using the Lens Pen from the BAA site.
    Anyways keep them coming!

Hi Wendell - agree with al on the techs, Gus's mention of a lower angle would be good as well.

Hi all . . . criticism noted and implemented; it helped quite a bit.

And Jackie, you were on to something -- I found my lens to be very dirty; that too has been fixed . . .
