    Tom,
From the background, it looks like on top of some rocks. In this tight square crop the emphasis is on its face and antlers. Rightly so. However, I would give some more space , especially at the back and little bit at the bottom. The ridge/ rock line is diffused but can still be toned down.

    Cheers,

Hi Tom If you don't have more room behind would then go tighter and crop from the right. Elegant pose and great feel !!!

    Hi Sabyasach

Many thanks for your comments which are very much appreciated and valued.

The Stag was standing in front of a small hill and there was a small mound between us - hence the fg OOF vegitation. The image is only cropped on the LH so there is no more room to come above or below. I wondered about the rock line - I left it in as it broke up the brown and the green of the bg - but its an interesting thought about toning it down.

I like both versions of the crop and you did great getting such an alert pose.

The image could be enhanced using my suggestions in your stag image http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=24094.
