Had lots of fun making this image. Hundreds of frames trying to get a group to fly in front of the moon and stay separated. Reminds me what a magical place Bosque is under a full moon.
    Canon 1DII 500 mm. w/2x f8 @ 1/320 manual everything. Some canvas added.
    Please critique.

    Hi Tom,

Welcome to BPN. Love the full moon. I would apply more sharpening. Excellent composition!

Stunning! Love it! I would've thought this shot might've had some crop, not added canvas, so more than ever... BIG congratulations!

Great first post, Tom. Lots of effort to get it all together. Might do some noise reduction on the BG and agree with Maxis that it would be nice to get the silhouettes sharp but suspect some atmospheric interference with the 500+2x is contributing to the soft look

Wow, stunning! I know how hard this kind of shot is, I went through well more than a hundred frames last year at Bosque trying to get the same type of shot during the full moon rise but never got anything close to this. I remember what made it so difficult was that it was getting cold fast, and maintaining concentration on the moon while shivering was a big challenge.

I think this is an outstanding image. Personally I don't think all images have to hurt the eye when it comes to sharpness. Considering the mood you are conveying with this image, for me the look and feel is just right. There's no evidence of panning so at 1/320s I'm amazed the image is as sharp as it is. I see some evidence of adding canvas on the right- there's a faint line about 2/3rds of the way up the image. Would not have seen it if you hadn't mentioned adding canvas. Might want to smooth this out though.

Very nice. More sharpening on the birds would be good...the leading one specifically seems softer than the others. I love the feel of the moon here, just the right amount of blur on it. BPN # 83 - and this is your first post??...It's about time!! :-) Looking forward to seeing more.

Always great to have birds fly across either the moon or the sun. You certainly succeeded here Tom. Well done.

Hi Tom, the only critic I can think about is that you took so much time to post a fine image like this one ;-)
I like it a lot, and I wouldn´t change a thing on it. Very well done and, please, keep them coming
