    Default Bosque Update #2

If Saturday was a goose day, then Sunday was a crane day. The mornings have been great but the afternoons slow. But the cranes were wonderful yesterday morning! This one was photographed against a BG of mountains; the diagonal lines are mountain shadows in the early morning light.

Thanks for posting your updates on Bosque! The BG really makes this crane image pop! I'll be there next week and am really looking forward to it. Was this taken at one of the crane pools along Hwy 1?

Beautiful image, Doug. I like the wing position and flare at the tips. I'm showing a little blue along the front edge of the wings you might want to desaturate.

    Dough,
The shadows of the mountains form a nice pattern. Excellent sharpness. Nice image. Your Mark III still dances to your tune. Amazing. :-)

    Doug
Gorgeous image!!!! You sure know how to torment me. I can't go to Bosque this year for Thanksgiving because my son is getting married then. I've thought of ever excuse in the book to get out of the wedding......but I'll be a good mom....wear a dress (this is going to be stressful) and go. Hey.......I'll be there next year!!! The only thing I'll be photographing that weekend will be the "love birds". Have a fantastic time.

    Doug,

Another outstanding capture !!!!! Congrats !!

Will you be taking any with the 500/600mm on your 50D??? Many of your recent 50D test posts have been with the 400 f5.6 or the 300 f2.8 - all have been outstanding. Just wondered if the 50D/long lens combo is also producing good results.

Wish I was there - keep the updates coming - have a blessed day - dave b.

This was taken at the first Crane pool on the right as you're driving in from San Antonio.

Nice work Doug. I'm almost positive I saw you a couple of times. We met a few other BPN members while we were shooting geese. Small world :). We managed to get a few shots of a Coyote and a "button-head" mule deer buck as well as a lot of bird images so I'm very happy with my first time visit to Bosque. I wish I would have had an opportunity to meet you.

Hi Mike! We shook hands and spoke. I was bundled up so I might not have been easy to recognize. I did recognize you from BPN and mentioned it to you. I was with Jim Neiger at the north end of the farm loop on Saturday morning photographing the geese. I posted one of the geese the other day, and I mentioned having met you in the post. I was hand holding a long lens that morning.

Excellent image Doug... Pose, eye contact, BG all superb... Looking at your Bosque images is a bit like reading the menu of a 5 star restaurant a couple weeks before your reservation... I'll be up there over Thanksgiving and my mouth is already watering!

Sorry your not going to be there...

OH!!.. yes I remember!! Duh... I knew I had seen you somewhere :)) I kept telling Russell that I felt bad because I knew "who" you were but for the life of me I couldn't remember exactly. Well that's kind of embarrassing... won't happen again though.

It was good to meet you. It looks you guys got some awesome stuff.
