Over the years, the best way to get quail to come up to the porperty is to put in a water feature. So several drip ponds are place about the yard. In Wofford hts., in the summer, it is very hot and dry. Once it is known that there is a reliable source of water, quail will mark that territory and frequent it. All I need do is sit in the kitchen with a cool drink;)

I like the head turn on the bird the exposure seems fine. The background sets off the bird nicely but it almost looks too smooth. It makes me wonder what the habitat really is. Regardless the bird is very nice. For the small size on the web I might be tempted to bring up the catch light just a bit more.

You make me envious of your set-up, Mark. Lovely light, pose, perch and BG.

The quail stands out nicely against your perfect OOF BG. Great setup, and thanks for sharing Mark.

Beautiful photo. I would add a carefully placed catchlight to the eye.
