This photo was taken as hurricane Ike was passing the MS coast. The weather was pretty bad and
    he was hunkered down.

Nice eye contact and details. I find the grass in the foreground a bit distracting.

I agree with the grass being distracting, I was hoping that the eye would catch the viewers attention quick enough
and the grass wouldn't be as big an issue. I liked the bird but the whole area was covered in that grass. Between Gustav and Ike our beach front stayed covered this summer.

I really like that wave, even if it is set directly behind the pelican. I see clone marks that need to be tidied-up in the water in LRC. Pelican looks great and sharp.

I really like the composition and the fact that it shows some of the environment but I particularly love the great coquette pose. Love everything about this image. Thanks for sharing John.

Nice pose and sharp detail. Do wish the grass weren't obscuring the feet, but I like the wave behind the bird. While you are cleaning up the cloning marks in the water in the lower right corner, you might also get rid of the dark spot just above the grass.

Nice eye contact, and details. AS mentioned the grasses are a bit distracting. I like the inclusion of the wave, but it does move your eye away from the bird.
