Doing some cleaning on the Newfoundland images this afternoon one fun place which I hope to return. This was from Gull Island a protected sanctuary (got half day permit to land) and it was magical !!! The weather did not cooperate and skies were white so I tried catching the little guys with a land bg. The window for this image was very limited and they came by at high speed like bullets ... not many keepers.
Comments welcome and much appreciated

We have only white skies north of the 49th parallel ;)
Another fabulous Newfoundland bird. BTW, I loved the article on your NFLD trip that was in the ezine last month. Where do the past issues go? Are they still available?
I love the angle as well. Haven't got a clue what to do about the white sky, except add canvas and try to stretch the greenery up a tad.
Hi Gail There are just below this forum !!! We got a lot of articles lined up and will soon be able to run things regularly !!!
For the white skies just go with the flow and make the best exposure possible. Even with white skies the quality of light varies and with very dull conditions is difficult making sharp images since they are dependent on edge contrast.
gotta ask a question here. would flash have helped in this situation? i find in some, if not all of mine, when there is no uplight it is hard to get good detail under the wings without bringing in lots of noise.
nice capture here!! you did well having a multicolored bg with the D300!!!! do you remember what AF setting you were using? thanks!!!! and tell mom we said hi!!
