i shot this one today and am putting it up with a natural bg. 1/200 s. may not seem much to some but it is a great leap forward for me. i hope this guy comes up ok.

Mike do look at this and the ones you were posting some time back !!!! Really amazing difference I do remember the small bird in frame getting lost in the bg clutter !!!

Would keep working on getting images sharp as the primary goal. All else will fall into place. Here you placed the bird well in frame, good head angle and its in focus. Might want to sharpen just a tad (over doing is also bad) Sure hope you get some good light for the next few, a higher shutter speed would be beneficial but not much you can do about it !!!

A big congrats to you Mike,
I like this one very much...the background is clean and soft forming a subtle pattern with the out of focus leaves...the bird is out in the clear, and you have a nice clean perch. very good advise given by Mr. Forns...proud of you Mike....practice, practice and practice...Rome was not build in one day...looking forward to the next one...good show...:)

Best image of yours that I have seen. Keep it up.... you are getting very good advice from Al and Gus. When the bird is in the light (where the sun is behind you), the speed will go up automatically and the image will sharpen almost by magic.

    Cheers

thanks Alfred, Gus, and Gail. i actually got a shot of this guy as if it were a normal bird, standing on the limb rather than hanging upside down or climbing vertically on it.
    thanks again,
    mike

Good work Mike, don't see any cloning marks. Good background and the framing of you bird in the pic is great. You're getting there!:)
