Image made this morning at Monocacy Nature Conservancy (Bethlehem, PA). Conditions very heavy cloud cover with 20+ MPH winds.

    Canon 50D; Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS lens w/ 2x TC; tripod-mounted.

1/1000 sec @ f/5.6; ISO 1600 (could probably have gone with 800 given conditions); +2/3 EV; FL 600mm (Effective FL 960 mm)

A nice intimate shot Ed. The background is a tad distracting, but you already went with a very shallow DOF, so not a lot you could do except some post-processing.

Nice find and pose. I might sharpen the head a bit more and clone out the branch sticking out of the bird's beak. I see a slight magenta cast on my monitor.

Ed, Nice capture. I like the pose and the Bg isn't too busy for me.

Nice pose. I might lighten the area around the eye. Also maybe try cloning out the branches in the BG.

Great catch, with good advise given above. I like the idea of lightening the eye and I also see the color cast.

A lovely subject and a nice pose but the background is distracting. You might consider removing the small vertical stick at the bottom and the stick piece in the lower right corner. I would also lighten the eye. The color cast is an easy fix.
