Beautiful image, Kevin! You hit a wonderful DOF with just the right amount of detail and a very nice BG. The sterling purple rose is one of my favorites, BTW.

If I had to get picky I'd say clone out the very small white spot just below the featured rose.

What lens did you use? Is this natural lighting?

    Thanks Julie,
I used a Nikkor 17-35mm lens and it was just natural light.
Amazing what you don't see until someone points it out - good idea with the white spot.

    Hi Kevin,

Beautiful rose and good dof for f/2.8. I guess I am going to disagree with my friend Jules on the background. To me, and I emphasize TO ME, the background looks busy and detracts my eye from the beauty of the rose. I would love to see you zoomed in so that the rose filled the entire frame even as the outside petals start to run out of the frame. But that is personal preference.

    Hi Kevin,
For me this could go either way. I love it as presented but also think that it would look stunning as a close-up of the rose.
    Regards,
    Nicki

I feel the strength of this image would be in the closeup. The backround is a bit busy.
