Great pose shown by this Superb Blue Wren Chris and featured nicely against good soft BG. I would suggest trying some Shadow/Highlight in PS to lighten up the belly & wing plumage. A bit underexposed as is.

Wouldn't that darken the belly, as it is among the paler areas of the bird?

A brilliant image of a lovely wee bird. I particularly like the symmetry of the tail, the bird's left leg and the perch.

A lovely crisp image with great use of depth of field that faithfully captures the blues- a little head turn to his right would have put this completely over the top - well done Christopher .

Thank you all, I will continue to learn PS and hope to have it conquered by 2020 (well partially)

    HI Chris,

What a good looking pose on this one. The clean BG makes your subject POP. The composition works very well too!

Hi Chris - not sure if you use a late vesrion of Photoshop but I think from CS2 the Shadow/highlight tool was introduced. Selecting the Shadow slider you can throw light into just the shadowed areas - it really simulates fill-flash. There are additional sliders here that allow you to select the density of shadow that you want to adjust. A very versatile tool.

I agree with all above comments, but I can see a very slight halo on my screen around the beak. Over sharpening, perhaps??

Wonderful jaunty pose and very good composition. The clean bg is lovely. Only nit is the head angle, but still a fine image.

These guys are so cool and youve captured this one well. The BG is great too. But for me without a more natural perch this one is lacking...

I am using CS3 so I will give it a go.

Only "automatic" sharpening on this, would Noise Ninja have done this?

    Thank you all again.

I have made the changes suggested from the original RAW file, no NS and some shadow and highlights.

Thanks Alfred. I am new to NN and have stuffed up a couple of good shots with it so far (only copies) so the learning curve steepens.

    I will persevere.
