Drop shadow is simple Denise !!

Make a duplicate layer> Image canvas size> increase width and hight of canvas by two percent (or required amount) it easier to do by percent rather than pixels > then go layer > layer style > drop layer>

In the dialog box first adjust the distance then the angle and finally opacity. Thats it !! Let me know it it works !!!

Alfred, I tried it. What am I doing wrong? When I go intp canvas should I position arrows a certain way?

You are on the right track !!!

First you need a larger bottom layer, select a hight %
Then use the little arrow inside the circle (angle) and position around 10 o'clock it moves the shadow
Finally reduce the opacity to taste !!

Okay, Al, I think I might have something for you. This blur makes the bird's feathers look like he is flying through a strong wind...why not do the same to the BG??? ;)

Probably was Gus Do remember a 9 degree morning with winds 35 knots and gusting. The tripod was shaking so bad we could not photograph so we came in for breakfast. Coldest morning that I can remember at Bosque !!!
