I know, another harsh light and wrong way. From the rookery at one of our visits. I dont know why I chose this to work on this one but I did,
Canon 40D, Canon 400 f/5.6L,
1/2500, f/6.3, ISO320, -.33EV, Eval metering. Tripod mounted.
CS4 adjustments.

I like the curves and the fact that the eye is visible. It would be better if there was direct eye contact. Looks like a significant crop and sharpening has accentuated noise in the BG - seems to have a strange thread-like texture

Yes to huge crop and mega-noisy. Could go a bit lighter. Interesting COMP but yes to more eye...
