Can anyone tell me what these guys are doing?

    Canon EOS 40D, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 400, 800mm, f8, 1/1250, full frame.

    Cheers,

No clue what they are doing but it wouldn't surprise me if the juveniles hope for food. :) I find the diagonal branch above the juveniles and the OOF birds a bit distracting.

Good interaction from the front 4 birds, but I'm with Axel in regards to the distractions. I also think pointing your lens a little lower and right would have given you a more pleasing composition. Interesting colours on these guys! :-)

Other than the diagonal branch, I like the photo Sabyasachi! Perhaps you should post this in the Avian ID forum and see if one of the experts over there has an idea about what is going on.

Not sure on the behavior. Is it going into breeding season for them? From the colours on the gular pouches I suspect it is some kind of display related to breeding - checking out who has the biggest and brightest:D

    Tony,
The breading season is starting. I have no idea on this behaviour related to anatomy comparisons. I thought of recording this behaviour though they were in a tree top with lots of twigs and branches.
    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi
