last week I went for the third time in three years to Germany for the cranes, great to see.
there are about 40.000 cranes present at the time, but they are very shy.
here I've chosen to make a very different picture.
finally more new shots on my website, soon the whole serie of the crane will be.
Love the patterns and the rows and the image design. Bummer about the farmhouse. I have moved this to Hand of Man.

that farmhouse and the acre is their natural habitat, Personally I find that especially that makes the picture complete, so I kept it on purpose in the background.

Interesting image. I can see this one with or without the farmhouse....depending on your view. I can see where there is less distraction to the bird if the farmhouse were not there. I do love the patterns and lines of the crop rows. Well done for a different type of image.
Hi Lesley, nice capture. I like your thinking with the crop lines. I don't mind the farmhouse, especially because it is obvious that this crane resides in an agricultural field. But that might be a Dutch thing, about 70% of our country's land area consists of agricultural fields.....
Although I think that this image gets its power from the crop lines, I feel that there is a bit too much of them in the (oof) FG. I would suggest cropping to a vertical, something like I posted here (very grainy because of the resolution of the image, but you'll get the idea). I also cropped a bit of the left, to get the crane in the rule of thirds hotspot. Big disadvantage is that it makes the farmhouse in the BG even more conspicuous than in the original, so I blurred the background a bit to make it less distracting, but still present (looks a bit artificial here because of the low resolution). Hope you like the result and you don't mind me editing your picture.
Hope to see more of your cranes, they're maginficent birds!

I also like the farmhouse but just wish the bird was on the lower part of the frame !!! Incredible feel !!! Depending on bird position you can compose differently !!!
I wonder if moving few steps to the right, the tree would give you the BG you need. However, if this is what you had in mind, it works very well for me. Can you get closer??
