Yesterday these two ring-billed gulls floated around together for 10-15 minutes, calling loudly all the time. They were the only two gulls in the area. Finally, they stopped, tussled a bit (I don't think they were mating), then flew off together, still calling loudly. I don't think they were quarreling about food, nor were there any young ones in the area. Maybe they simply enjoyed hearing themselves sing?

    I did a very slight crop and sharpened a little . . .

    Hi Wendell,
I like your crop and the singing, just toned down the highlights a bit.

    Hi Wendell.
I used Select/Colour Range/Highlights got the marching ants and did a control J to copy into a new layer and then did a linear burn at 100 percent and erased pretty much eveything except areas around the neck. I think in your original file the whites would not look so hot.

    Great work Jackie !!!

Even when it looks that there is no detail you can have some. The linear conversion is the way go btw if you use LightRoom you can avoid most of this problems !!!

Hi Alfred: I do use Lightroom, but have not mastered it yet. Do you mean convert my NEF file to a DNG file?

    Jackie, it was a - (minus), ( -1) . . . I re-checked it, and it was -11/3, as I've indicated. That's quite a bit under, but is the setting I used.
