Good job in getting the eye sharp for a bird flying towards you with a relatively slow shutter speed. The wing blur is maybe a bit much though, and I detect a reddish cast to the image. Good composition!

I like the mood and idea and agree regarding the red cast. I might crop a bit off the bottom.

Like the framing, the sharp eye, and the blurred wings. Some eye doctor work would help: darken the pupil and lighten the iris.

Having worked with the 50D for a week in San Diego I am confused by your choice of EXP comp on an obviously cloudy day... Did 0 give you data well into the 5th histogram box???

Lovely wing blur and agree on the slight magenta cast.

I do see the cast. Thanks. I will play with the WB and see if I like it more.

Art, this was in Manual mode. I would have been +2 or more in AV. Tons of data in the 5th box. If I do beleive i knocked the exposure down a bit in lightroom. The light was constant but the exposure would change too much with the various BG of water, rocks, and sand. Hindsight I should have bumped the ISO a bit for some more shutterspeed.

I like it in the way you posted and I agree about the redish cast but that is very easy to fix :-)
