This morning it was 17 degrees at Bosque with strong north winds. The sandhills took off into the brisk wind wearing icy ankle bracelets. Nikon D2Xs Nikon 200-400mm VR 1/3000s f/4.0 at 400.0mm iso200 60 % of frame
Love the icicles! How are the birds down there right now? I'm thinking about heading down there this weekend. Thanks!
There are over 12,000 sandhills and a nice variety of ducks. Quite a few snow geese, of course. The crane pools are really active. Birds are very far out in the fields during the day.
Very nice, Gayle! Only wish for the full wing up. Great background and light. Poor darlings, being so cold there!
Nice shot! This crane seems to have some deformity of its bill!?
