    Nikon D70s 70-200VR@200 1/800 f/14 +2 1/3 EV ISO 400

    It was a nice day today, but I wanted to try a white/black effect, so I adjusted my camera settings to achieve it. However, one thing I did not count on was this guy's beak blending into the background like it does. C&C, please.

    Hi Wendell,
    I like the capture and composition, it is a tad on the dark side. Suggestions: I would crop just a tad from the bottom and 1/4 from the top of the frame to eliminate some of the negative space. In addition, you can lighten the bill and the whites just a little and selective sharpen the eye. The head angle and eye contact is good...:cool:

    I like the suggestions but you can also lighten the bird, will even pop out more from the dark bg !!! I like the experimentation !!!

    Gus and Alfred, I have now experimented with your suggestions and they definitely caused an improvement in the image.

    Incidentally, I mistakenly show my EV setting as a "+" and, of course, it should have shown as a "-" . . .
