    Hi Uncle Gus,
a nice capture indeed...:D On the first one, I am seeing some noise in the background. the head angle police is looking at you; but I already spoke to them and told them that you were going to behave. On the second capture, I love the bright, bold, vibrant colors. I personally like the second one the best...good show...

Hi Gus, Gorgeous bird - love the BG - agree the HAP may have you on this one, IMHO to tight in the frame for that HA - More room at the top and you cold argue the case of the bird looking at aomething (which it is) but just feels too tight for this HA.

    Lovely shot :)

Gus, I love this! I don't think the head angle is bad. I think the sharpness and exposure are very good .I like both renditions

there was a comment made in another thread recently by either gail or cheryl where they stated that they thought we would rather see something creative than a static image. i associate creative with artful and have to agree. while i do enjoy the original image, your creation is really nice. agree it is a little tight on top and your third post took care of that! nice work again, UG!!

I think they are both great, but if I were forced to pick, maybe the original. Just a bit more room at the top Gus. Good one!

I like the 3rd one and only wish that the bird had looked a bit down and to its left... Is Arizona Woodpecker the correct species name?

I like the painterly creation except for the greens that came up in the bird's plumage.

    Hi Artie:

Once called Strickland's woodpecker. This is a Arizona Woodpecker, Picoides arizonae, male recognized by red on its head. Page 271, Sibley.
